Part 1 of 10 in the series, "How do I launch a business while on my burnout recovery journey?"

It may seem crazy to launch a business after going through burnout. Where does all the energy come from? How do you manage the stress? How do you keep going? This is post #1 of a 10-part series.

As a burnout survivor in recovery, I have had to change how I approach something as challenging and overwhelming as starting my own business. I can still make goals and look at long-term plans. However, when it comes to getting the work done, I have to deal with it one day at a time.

Some days I’ll feel great, have lots of energy, and be able to knock lots of daily to-dos off my list. Other days, I’ll feel like I’m living under a huge boulder and all I can manage are the 1 or 2 highest priority tasks for that day.

I have to be OK with whatever kind of day I’m having. I have to believe that I’m in this for the long term and that each day will fluctuate.

I also have to have my coping tools at the ready every day. These include my close friends, my coaches, and my therapist. Depending on the day I may need one of these are all of these. I have to be aware of how I’m doing and know what tool, or tools, I need.

Each day is a lesson learned. Each day is another day building my resilience. It’s all part of being a lifelong learner and staying in recovery from burnout.
